Just 20 minutes north of the city of Christchurch is Silverstream Alpaca Stud, one of new Zealand's best known alpaca farms. Alpacas, natives of South America, are one of the most adorable and fascinating animals and appeal to all age groups.
Visitors receive a brief safety talk and are then escorted out to the paddocks to feed, touch, photograph and cuddle alpacas.
The alpaca is naturally inquisitive and coupled with food, make for great entertainment for young and old alike. The owner will provide and entertaining and informative commentary during the feeding of the animals. From here visitors are taken to the fibre shed to feel and touch exquisite alpaca fibre, followed by a visit to the trophy room and alpaca shop.
